About Andrew

Andrew Ellaby started his career at Hays in Manchester in 2010, cutting his teeth recruiting paralegals for law firms across North West England. After less than a year, he was given his big break and was asked to join the Hays international legal recruitment desk. This is where he began helping lawyers make international moves into top-tier private practice law firms around the globe. His time in Manchester allowed him to learn from some of the best and most honourable recruiters in the North West and was a perfect start to his career.

After 3 years, Andrew relocated to London with Hays to continue his development, and he progressed to Manager of the private practice legal desk. As well as continuing to help lawyers relocate internationally, Andrew began working on the domestic London market. In his final year at Hays in 2015 he was part of the prestigious 30-person 'Hays Elite' (one of very few individuals qualified due to both personal and managerial/team performance).

After 5 and 1/2 years at Hays, Andrew and his team were approached to take over the private practice desk at Eximius. It was an opportunity to work as part of a smaller, specialist agency whilst continuing to learn from some of the best and most honourable people in the business.

By 2017, having specialised in international recruitment for nearly 7 years, Andrew thought he should practice what he preached and moved with Eximius to Hong Kong, quickly progressing to Head of the Hong Kong office of Eximius. Still focusing on private practice law firm hiring, but also gaining some useful experience of in-house legal recruitment, Andrew developed to the point where he could start his own agency. He co-founded Ellaby Chamberlain in 2022.

About Zach

Zach Chamberlain co-founded Ellaby Chamberlain in 2022, a legal recruitment agency built on market expertise and relationships.

Having started his legal career as a lawyer in New Zealand at Chapman Tripp, Zach relocated to London where he spent over three years at Clifford Chance. Through working in the legal industry, Zach has gained an in-depth knowledge of legal subject matter, understands the intricacies and nuances of the different areas of law, and knows what it takes to be successful in an elite law firm environment.

During his time at Clifford Chance and Chapman Tripp, Zach regularly advised on market leading transactions, and frequently interacted with lawyers from many of the world's top firms. Through these interactions, Zach has built a strong network.

Through a combination of experience in the industry, knowledge of what it takes to be successful after making a big move, market intel through his extensive network and his collaborative approach to working with candidates, Zach is well placed to assist you in finding the right fit.

About Cos

Cos started his career as a lawyer, training and qualifying at Howard Kennedy LLP where he specialised in commercial real estate. After 8 great years with the firm Cos transitioned to legal recruitment, starting with an international agency where he specialised in placing Associates at all levels with top-tier US, Magic Circle, Silver Circle, international and boutique law firms.

Following many successful placements and building of client relationships, Cos quickly progressed to a managerial position before joining Ellaby Chamberlain in 2024. Cos prides himself on providing a thorough, professional and considered service in assisting both clients and candidates.

Outside of work, Cos is married with two lively children and enjoys spending time with his family, socialising and playing sports.

About Alex

Alex Lynch joined Ellaby Chamberlain in 2023, a legal recruitment agency built on market expertise and relationships.

Having started his private practice recruitment career as an consultant at another legal recruitment agency, Alex spent a year and a half working with elite candidates at several of the world’s top law firms. During this time Alex was able to build a strong reputation and network within the legal space, pinpointing the needs of his candidates and clients to align business values and goals which has led to successful placements.
